I Give Myself Away

Have you ever given something to someone -perhaps love, affection, a gift- and been afraid that you wouldn’t get anything back? That perhaps you’d put yourself out there and not receive so much as a thank you in return?

When we choose to obey God we are giving our will, our very lives over to Him. We are entrusting Him with our most valuable possession-ourselves. This takes trust and faith-belief that He not only knows best, but wants what’s best for us and intends to give us what’s best.

I recently read that all disobedience to God stems from unbelief. So, if we are disobedient it is because we don’t believe. We don’t believe that we are hearing from God. We don’t believe that God is right. We don’t believe God will reward our obedience. We don’t believe that the inconvenience, discipline, or effort that the obedience might take will pay off.

But these are lies from the pit of hell.

The truth is that we cannot out give God.

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. Luke 6:38 NKJV

The truth is that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

The truth is His plans are to prosper us and not to harm us. Jeremiah 29:11-12

The truth is that if we obey Him, He will bless us. Deuteronomy 28:1-14

The truth God is able to do far more than we can imagine. Ephesians 3:20

I encourage you today, as I encourage myself to cut off the enemy’s lies with God’s word. However hard it may seem, the reward is far greater. Of course we are not just talking earthly rewards. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” I Corinthians 2:9 The reward of spending eternity with our heavenly Father far outweighs any effort or ‘hardship’ our obedience here on Earth might cause.

However, the earthly rewards are there too.

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [b]overflows). John 10:10 AMPC (emphasis mine)

Let’s pray.

Lord we thank You for Your grace and mercy. We thank you for Your love. Please God forgive us for rebelling against Your word. Please give us a holy reverential fear of You. Please help us to realize that You know all and see all and know best. Please help us to know deep in our core that your plans for us are good and that You only instruct us for our own benefit. You don’t need us or desire to make us miserable. Your plans for us are good and flow out of Your great love for us. Have Your way in us Holy Spirit.

In Jesus Name,

PS If you don’t know Jesus as your personal savior He longs to come into your heart and have a personal relationship with you.  Romans 10:9 says,

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. NLT

Pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I come to you humbly asking you to forgive my sins. I believe that you died and rose again three days later to pay for my sins. Thank you for dying for me.  Please Lord, come into my heart. I give control of my life over to you. Please God, from this moment forward help me to live for you and do your will. Thank you Lord, that now I am saved. I no longer have to fear death. Please help me be all you made me to be.

In Jesus name,
